What are the differences ?

The extendable console and the lift-up table both have the appeal of being multifunctional. But you need to know how to distinguish them...

The lifting table:

• Generally when closed, it is a coffee table;
• Open, it becomes, depending on the dimensions of the model, a table that can accommodate 4 to 12 guests;
• Adjustable to the nearest centimeter (the most technical models have a gas piston base);
• Can be extendable and does not automatically have an extension, only the top can create the extension, and therefore dictates the size of it when open.

The extendable console:

• Its function when closed is to be a console;
• Accommodates 4 to 12 guests in open position;
• Has extensions stored in the foot of the furniture (for its extension);
• Its height is not adjustable but its length can be chosen according to your needs.

Please note: unlike the extendable console, the height of which does not vary, the lift-up table is extendable and also adjustable.

Which table for which use?

Liftable tables and extendable consoles are useful in all types of interiors and manufactured to be as easy to use as possible. Depending on the layout of your living space, recommendations should be taken into account:

• The extendable console fits perfectly there since it adapts to the shape of your room, adding a friendly touch;
• The lifting table can also be used in a rectangular room, some taking rectangular dimensions (for the largest models).

Micro extendable console

In a square room:

• The lifting table is indicated. It can be a work space, a coffee table, a dining table (the “dinette” models are very practical for TV sets).
• The extendable console is in a small square room, less useful because it risks being only partially used.

Maintain a table according to its finish

Choose the finish of your extendable table

• Plastic : known for its affordable cost and easy to maintain (a wet cloth is enough to remove stains or dust). Plastic tables come in many designs. Please note, modular plastic tables cannot withstand being in contact with a hot item, such as a dish, it is essential to provide a trivet to accommodate a hot saucepan for example...;

• Melamine: if the cost of melamine is higher and its maintenance is similar to that of a plastic table. The style of melamine furniture is generally modern. This finish, composed of wood particles covered with a decoration, is very popular and goes with all types of interiors;

• Aluminum: this material offers advantages such as durability in use and low maintenance requirements. Generally its cost is among the most select ranges of tables. The aluminum table is often favored in industrial style interiors;

• Solid wood: a reference finish for furniture, solid wood, depending on the tree on which it depends, is more expensive than other coverings. Very specific maintenance is necessary. A modular wooden table brings a particularly cozy touch to the Nordic look in a home.

How to maintain a modular table:

For the maintenance of a lifting table. It is advisable to unseize (i.e. grease) the casters located in the rail under the tabletop, with a specific “unlocking” product intended for this use.

For maintenance of the extendable console, the same maintenance is recommended for the sliding rail.

Good to know: with the exception of damage to the wood, it is not useful to plan for maintenance with wax.
