What is the electric lift chair?

The electric lift chair is part of the family of relaxation chairs. It combines the comfort and ergonomics of a classic relaxation chair with the ease of sitting down and getting up thanks to the lift function which will straighten you up. The lift function is activated using a remote control , the chair can be raised completely, and helps you to settle in, and returns you to a sitting position without requiring effort from your legs or back. The Reliever Function

Activated from the remote control, the lift function will allow you to get up or sit down with great ease . You will gain great autonomy while reducing the risk of falls when you sit down or get up. The Relaxation Function

The backrest and footrest adjustments allow you to place them in an optimal comfortable position . Depending on the chair chosen, these adjustments may be independent. If there is only one motor, the backrest and footrest will move simultaneously. If there are several motors (there can be up to 4 for total adaptability), the backrest and the footrest will be independent and will each be adjusted precisely. If you choose a 180° armchair this will mean that you can adjust the inclinations of its sections until you find yourself lying down . You will then have an armchair with infinite adjustments , from sitting position to horizontal position. All these adjustments can be made simply using the very practical and easy-to-use integrated electric remote control .

The mechanism

A lift chair can offer 3 modes, electrically steerable via the remote control and without limits:

Rest Mode:

Lying position with total backrest inclination. The footrest is raised horizontally. This function is not presented on all relax armchairs;

Relax mode:

The backrest is partially reclined, as desired. The footrest is raised, again at the angle you choose;

Reliever Mode:

Negative inclination of the chair allowing you to sit down or get up easily thanks to its arrival in a quasi-vertical position (backrest, seat and footrest included).

The electric relaxation chair is composed of: A removable enveloping backrest providing significant lumbar support. It can be lowered or raised using a remote control, or by body pressure; A removable leg rest. It comes to life using the remote control and is activated independently of the backrest if there are several motors; Most of the time 2 24 volt motors (it can go from 1 – in this case the adjustments are made simultaneously – to 4); An easy-to-use remote control.

Some specificities

When you choose your relax – lift chair, you will need to pay attention to its dimensions . We advise you to choose an armchair whose dimensions are adapted to your size. In fact, the armchairs have varying widths and heights ; The taller you are, the higher we advise you to take a chair so that lifting can be done in the best conditions. It is important to also think about the space needed around the chair itself so that it can fully extend. It is generally considered that you need around sixty centimeters at the back of the chair so that it is not blocked when you decide to lower the backrest.

There are also “back-to-the-wall” armchairs whose deployment is less extensive and therefore more easily integrated into a living room. If you suffer from back pain, heating and massaging options will be ideal . By heating your chair for a few minutes, your back pain will be reduced. The massage will help you relax and, again, alleviate your pain. It is generally done with two massage heads that will go up and down along your spine. For the upholstery of the armchair it is preferable to choose a good quality foam with a rather high density. If the foam is of good quality, it will return to its shape once you leave the chair whereas if it is average, it may sag to your contours and comfort will quickly diminish.
