The clic clac sofa is the first convertible bench ever designed. It is equipped with a simple and robust mechanism that allows you to easily transform your sofa into a real bed. Commonly installed in teenagers' bedrooms or to furnish a studio, it is a space-saving piece of furniture that guarantees minimal space for great sleeping comfort.
The clic clac sofa system, simple and robust
The sofa bed is a convertible bench that opens parallel to the wall. It does not have armrests and is simply made up of a base topped with a mattress which is used both for sitting and sleeping. The bed base of the sofa bed is made of a sturdy metal frame with wooden slats.
The box spring frame is equipped with a mechanical spring system which allows the sofa bed to be moved from the sitting position to the sleeping position. The mechanism is activated very easily by folding the seat of the sofa towards the backrest.
What space should you provide to comfortably unfold a sofa bed?
As the clic clac sofa unfolds parallel to the wall on which it is supported, it is particularly suitable for a rectangular living room or a bedroom already equipped with a bed. The length of the seat represents the length of the bed, between 190 and 200 cm.
The width of the sofa is equal to more or less half of the mattress since it is simply folded in half. It can vary from 80 cm to 100 cm depending on the model and the bed is most often 140 cm wide. Unfolding a click clack requires little space, which is why it is a space-saving bench par excellence.
What mattress can be adapted to a convertible bench?
The quality of your sofa bed mattress is relative to its price. A low-end convertible will offer a mattress with a thickness of only 6 to 10 cm suitable for occasional sleeping. Quality clic clac sofas are more expensive, but have a mattress 13 or even 17 cm thick, which will be suitable for regular or daily sleeping.
