Since 2017 La Maison Convertible has been developing creations in partnership with designers.
It is thanks to these talents that our convertible sofas are born, designed to be beautiful, stylish and functional at the same time!
Through this competition, we want to highlight new design talents and thus offer you a real space for expression.

What if you imagined the sofa of tomorrow?
Created in 1980, La Maison Convertible is a family business, number 1 in convertible sofas in France and specialized in space intelligence.
A central element of the living room, the sofa has seen the elements surrounding it change, transform and modernize over the decades. Behaviors, uses and needs are different and continue to evolve too, particularly since the health crisis as shown in the infographic accessible in a few figures below and carried out after an Opinion Way survey in 2021. However, the sofa itself has evolved relatively little.
Furthermore, in urban areas, spaces are increasingly limited, the price per m2 continues to increase and it is necessary to optimize the living space by thinking about intelligent storage solutions capable of adapting to the size of an apartment. A study carried out by Sofinco in 2021 also shows that since the health crisis, the French are looking for larger or more functional spaces in order to feel good at home!
Have you always dreamed of pushing the boundaries of creativity and shaping the future of furniture? This competition is made for you!
We are looking for creative minds capable of reinventing the sofa and transforming it into a piece that is both functional and aesthetic. We want to see bold and innovative concepts that push conventions and adapt to contemporary lifestyles. The competition is especially aimed at you, students or graduates, who bring a fresh perspective and creative energy.
What place will the sofa occupy in a few years? What will it look like in its design, comfort and functionality? Will it always be in the center of the living room? How to take new lifestyles into account?

Nice prizes up for grabs
First Prize: The winner of the competition will be awarded the sum of 2,500 euros and will have the pleasure of seeing their model highlighted by La Maison Convertible. He will be accompanied during the creation of the sofa by our expert teams.
The Second Prize: the second winner will receive the sum of 1000 euros .
The Third Prize: the third winner will receive the sum of 800 euros.
And that's not all ! La Maison Convertible will provide the winners with visibility and good visibility on its media: website, social networks, stores.
An exceptional jury
During February 2024, a jury made up of talented designers, salespeople, members of the General Management of La Maison Convertible and other personalities soon to be revealed will evaluate the proposals made by the candidates and will carry out a pre-selection. At the end of a deliberation, 3 candidates will be selected.
And if it were you ?
EXPECTED PROJECTS
- A feasible sofa,
- A sofa that is both designer, comfortable and functional,
- A sofa that can be handled with ease,
- A sofa with a sleeping function,
- A sofa capable of accommodating at least two people,
- If a technology is integrated it must still be relevant in 10 years,
The project must include this notion of space optimization. Participants can therefore think about possible storage solutions, while following the decor trend of the moment.
No material is imposed but it must, of course, be feasible. However, the use of eco-responsible materials would be a plus.
Dimensions and shapes are not constraints, participants are free to imagine a corner sofa, straight or modular.
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
Participation in the competition is reserved for people meeting the following conditions:
- This competition is open to students or graduates, juniors to seniors, residents of mainland France, over 18 years old. (Experience will be taken into account in the result.)
- It is possible to compete alone or in a group (3 maximum).
EXAMINATION OF APPLICATION FILES AND SELECTION OF THE JURY
During February 2024, a jury composed of designers, salespeople, members of the General Management of La Maison Convertible and other potential professionals will evaluate the proposals made by the candidates and will carry out a pre-selection. At the end of a deliberation, 3 candidates will be selected.
CALENDAR
- August 7, 2023 : start of applications.
- Sunday February 4, 2024 : closing date of the competition.
- End of February 2024 : pre-selection of candidates and jury meeting to determine the 3 winners.
- March to September 2024: support for the first winner for the manufacture of their model / design of the sofa (deadlines subject to potential hazards linked to manufacturing).
- October 2024: awards ceremony and exhibition of the designed model.
