Established in Bavaria since its creation in 1948, Himolla is today one of the European leaders in relaxation seats and sofas. A company in constant evolution for more than 60 years, Himolla firstly strives to respect the traditional artisanal know-how of its employees while investing in continuing training and promotion of staff.
1. A story of tradition in constant evolution
Very locally anchored, with an 85,000 m² factory, Himolla has created a training workshop for young people from the region who, at the end of three years of study, are guaranteed to work for the company on a permanent basis.
The motivation of employees, their identification with the products and the company, the close links between Himolla, the city and the region, help to create an esprit de corps and enriching working conditions for everyone. Despite the size of the company, for the 1100 employees who work there, Himolla is like a big family. A feeling also shared by the group's 2,000 other employees.
Concerned about the training of its staff but also their well-being, Himolla has, since the 1990s, opted for eco-responsible manufacturing methods. An environmental commitment that the company has developed over the years and shared with its employees to become today the most eco-compatible German furniture manufacturer.

2. Quality, guarantee of reliability and longevity
Himolla elevates quality to the rank of primary virtue and guarantees its armchairs and sofas with a quality label for five years . All materials used in the manufacturing of furniture are carefully selected and tested. Particular care is taken to check the hypoallergenic properties of the materials used and their health aspects.
Each new model, once designed, must also undergo a series of tests in the Himolla test laboratories to guarantee its resistance to friction, crushing and stress. So many guarantees of reliability to ensure the customer an optimal level of comfort over a maximum period of time.
The level of requirements that Himolla sets at all stages of the manufacturing of its products, selection of materials, technological innovations, perfect machining, model testing, contributes to the international reputation of the company, known for the extreme quality of his products.

3. Optimal customer comfort and satisfaction: a priority issue
The well-being and pleasure of the customer are at the heart of Himolla's concerns. First from the design of a model to its sale, through the choice of materials and its manufacturing, the thought of the comfort and satisfaction that the user will experience, never leaves the Himolla staff who apply the company's leitmotif to the letter: “furniture for your greatest pleasure”.
Aware that this guarantee of extreme comfort, generator of optimal relaxation, has made the success and contributed to building the international reputation of the brand, and proud of their participation, the employees strive to produce furniture of high quality and a constant and high degree of comfort. But who are these relaxation products made for and how to choose the right one? Our expert Jeannette Lhériau tells us about it.
Himolla has trained staff with varied knowledge and know-how. Between artisanal tradition and high technology, after-sales service always attentive, all equally determined to provide customers with the highest level of satisfaction. This major challenge is the very basis of the philosophy of the German brand.

4. A constant environmental commitment
Himolla has for many years chosen eco-responsibility. By opting for a policy of respect for the environment, the company is committed at all stages of its development and production to complying with strict requirements in terms of eco-compatibility.
The selection of materials that make up Himolla furniture is an integral part of environmental measures. Because the company cooperates with suppliers with the same eco-responsible approach and the materials are chosen for their stability, their purity – all free of harmful substances – and their longevity.
The recycling rate of waste reintegrated into the production cycle is close to 100% and constitutes one of the pillars of the company's environmental policy. Himolla uses water-based varnishes and paints and not solvents, thus reducing toxic emissions as much as possible. Wood dust is evacuated directly, filtered, purified and helps to heat the premises in winter. Noise emissions have also been subject to maximum reduction, well below regulatory limitations. Transport is ensured in a way that reduces gas emissions and the packaging is recyclable.
The company's buildings are heated by recycling wood waste and by renewable energies. Water and electricity consumption are constantly decreasing. The well-being and comfort of staff as well as working conditions are also a major concern for Himolla. This company provides training on environmental protection and workplace safety to its employees. All these measures earned Himolla the “Blue Angel” (Der Blaue Engel) acronym in 2011, the highest German distinction rewarding products that stand out for their respect for the environment.
5. “A younger and more diversified clientele and range”
“ For a long time, relaxation seats were only functional. We chose to buy a Himolla armchair or sofa because we knew that they were extremely quality products. But also perfect comfort and great longevity. All models had functionality and that took precedence over aesthetics. Customers were looking for well-being through the precise functions of a seat and were not attached to its design.
Over the past ten years, the clientele has become younger and more diversified. People no longer have the same vision of the relaxation chair. Himolla, which sells in 55 countries, has customers whose average age is 53 years old. Previously, the average age of customers was over 60 years old.
If the functionality of the armchair or relaxation sofa remains the main selection criterion for buyers, it is no longer the only criterion. We went from traditional and functional to functional and aesthetic. Himolla has focused in recent years on combining essential function with more modern, more refined lines. The general trend is towards the democratization of the relaxation chair. We are reaching a new clientele who see in the Himolla seat or sofa a quality of comfort and ergonomics combined with a refined and contemporary design.
Always attentive to customer expectations and at the forefront of technological innovation. Himolla therefore strives to offer a range of models combining ergonomic seating comfort and original shaping. Each model of seat or sofa, which integrates innovative functions capable of generating optimal relaxation, is designed taking into account the latest trends in terms of styles, shapes, colors and materials. »
